Actions and progress


Action A.1 “Project management”
The DGMA is the coordinating beneficiary of the INFONATUR 2000 project and, as such, it has the responsibility of conducting the management work and technical and financial coordination of the project. From the very first day of the execution of the project the DGMA has provided a team of people to perform the work until its completion.

Action A.2 “Management committee”
The project, given its eminently participatory element and the different visions of the implementation of the Natura 2000 Network, has constituted a Management Committee which will allow, throughout the conducting of the project, the participation of the interested parties (associated beneficiaries, partners, associations and other bodies) in the development of the guidelines of the project.

Action A.6 “Networking activities”
Until now the project has been in touch with the following projects:
LIFE11 INF/ES/665 “Activate your real wealth. Natura 2000 Network”. LIFE + “Enarbolar”

The INFONATUR 2000 project invited the representative of the LIFE11 INF/ES/665 project, run by SEO, and the representatives of theLIFE + “Enarbolar” project to the conference held in Cáceres by the “20 years of the Natura 2000 Network” project.

Personnel from the management team of the INFONATUR project attended the “Workshop on local bodies and the Natura 2000 Network”, held on 4 July 2013. As a result of these contacts an agreement has been established between the two projects to share results and coordinate the implementation of initiatives to improve the results of each project.

Action B.1 Sociological study of the perception of the Natura 2000 Network in the work area.
This action was completed in September 2014. Studies of the perception have been drawn up by the General Directorate of the Environment of the Autonomous Community and by Lleida Provincial Council and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board in the provinces of Lleida and Girona, respectively.

With the results of this study the commitment to communication has focused on the aspects which were regarded as most negative or most poorly perceived by the different sectors involved.

Action B.2 “Implications of inclusion in the Natura 2000 Network”
This initiative was completed in December 2013.

Action C.1 “Disclosure and publicizing of the Natura 2000 Network in the media”
This action envisages the preparation of 120 thematic news items, 60 interviews and news highlights, 60 radio spots and multimedia information, to be broadcast on Canal EFE TV for four years.

The products prepared will appear on the website at, EFE's free download platform (,, EFE Radio's 24-hour information service, Canal EFE TV, YouTube, other social networks (Twitter, Facebook) and green EFE applications for iPad, Android and iPhone.

Until now 103 reports have been prepared (in different formats), together with a total of 33 videos. At the same time three informative reports on the Natura 2000 Network have been published in three national and regional magazines (Revista Quercus, Revista Senderos de Extremadura and Revista Dehesa de Extremadura). On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Natura 2000 Network a conference titled “20 years of the Natura 2000 Network” was held in Cáceres on 24 May 2013, where the formal launch of the INFONATUR 2000 project took place.

Action C.2 “Social Networks”

This action has been implemented by means of profiles on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Ivoox and YouTube. Although the popularity of each of the social networks is different, they all have an upward trend.
Work is being conducted on the realization of an analytical study of these social networks to quantify the scope of the distribution of content via these platforms.

Action C.3 “Dissemination activities and informational material”

This action includes several products related to the dissemination of the project and the Natura 2000 Network. The project logo and a promotional video of the Natura 2000

Network and the INFONATUR 2000 project have been prepared.

In 2014 informational leaflets and other merchandising material for the project were prepared and distributed at different events and fairs held in areas included in the Natura 2000 Network.

Similarly, an informative story on the Natura 2000 Network has been written, which will be used for the conducting of educational workshops to be held throughout 2015.

Action C.4 “Visual communication”

This action envisages the holding of a photography competition, the writing of an informative book on the Natura 2000 Network and the preparation of interactive guides on areas of the Natura 2000 Network.
The initiative has begun with the hiring of interactive guides and the photography competition is expected to be held in 2015.

Action C.5 “Theatre and the Natura 2000 Network”

2013 saw the preparation of the theatre booklet for the school theatre competition, to be held during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 academic years. The participation of schools to conduct this initiative has already been requested.

Action D.1 “Training course for the dynamization of the Natura 2000 Network”

This course has already been included in the training program for civil servants in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for 2015. It will take place in October.

Action D.2 “Training course for a change in attitude of the sectors involved”

This action is underway, a specialised training company having been contracted for the preparation of content and materials. The courses will effectively begin in June 2015.

Action E.1 “Monitoring of the impact of the project on the general public and the environmental problem”

This actin is expected to be executed in the final year of the project (2016).

Ation F.1 “Website”

The construction of the website was completed in 2013 and will be updated throughout the project and five years after it ends.

Action F.2 “Informative panels for the project”

This action was fully executed in 2013.

Action F.3 “Informative report”

This action is expected to be executed in the last quarter of 2016.
